Some of the Joan Fontaine fans are so biased. It’s quite obvious that they’ve just read “No Bed of Roses” (Joan Fontaine’s autobiography, which I’ve also read so I know what they’re going on about) and nothing else because they keep going on about how Joan was alone and helpless and Olivia was the evil mean abuser. I’m not saying Joan Fontaine was a liar because I like her too BUT it was HER AUTOBIOGRAPHY. IT’S BOUND TO BE SUBJECTIVE. It’s her version of events and I know how easily actions can be misinterpreted. It’s just dumb how they’re treating it as if it’s absolutely 100% FACTUAL. ALL BIOGRAPHIES ARE BIASED, AUTOBIOGRAPHIES MORE SO. That’s why it’s best to read a couple and then form your own opinion. Still eagerly awaiting the release of Olivia’s book.
I’M NOT JUST SAYING THIS BECAUSE I’M AN OLIVIA STAN, OK. …okay, maybe I’m partly saying it because of that but come on, BE A SKEPTIC. THINK FOR YOURSELF.
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS. I was just going to write a rant about this myself.
For fuck’s sake, there are always two to a fight. Joan wasn’t as helpless and left behind as she claims to be. I only recently found a major mistake in Joan’s book regarding Norma Shearer that pissed me off sooooo much, so if she’s lying about a relatively minor incident, what else is she lying about? Joan, I love you, but get a grip. I like both of the de Havillands, but Olivia is the much better actress in my opinion, and it’s not her fault that her career was more successful, that she won two Oscars, was only married twice and seems to be the more stable of the two. I, too, used to be like ‘Oh my, poor Joan etc.’, but uhm. Her fans reallllly piss me off.PLEASE, OLIVIA, publish your book. I will worship it FOREVER (especially since Every Frenchman Has One provided great lulz, PLUS, she was actually very kind when talking about Joan, even though she didn’t say much).
ARGH PEOPLE, GET A GRIP. Sorry, but Olivia > Joan in my honest even though very biased opinion.
HNNNNNNNNNNNNNG MENTALLY MASTURBATING TO THESE POSTS TBH. I posted something like this on Twitter last night (obviously the 140 character version of it) and it didn’t go over well because of Joan Fontaine’s ~adorableness~
