Robert Taylor and Vivien Leigh in a promotional still for Waterloo Bridge (1940) +
Hands down one of the most heart-wrenching movies I’ve ever seen.
Isn’t this the best/saddest movie?
UGH IT REALLY IS, THOUGH. It starts off so beautiful, and that continues to flow on and blossom throughout the next 30 minutes, there are some minor downfalls, but the beauty picks up again and those little downfalls only makes you more emotionally invested in the story because it seems real. Then it starts getting bad. Then it reallys bad. Then it gets unbelievably bad and tragic. Then it picks up again! And the hope makes you more invested in this film and you feel so much for these characters. THEN IT ALL COMES CRASHING DOWN MY HEART IT IS BROKEN. Probably because my ~*first love*~ was awesome like this and it ended pitifully, obviously I wasn’t forced into prostitution and only to eventually commit suicide, but yeah. It hit close to home
